Five Bulldogs Set to Compete in NCAA Individual Championships

ORLANDO, Florida — Five Bulldogs will head south to represent the Georgia women’s tennis team at the NCAA Individual Championships with action set to run from Tuesday, Nov. 18 to Sunday, Nov. 23, at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.

  • No. 28 Aysegul Mert and No. 92 Anastasiia Gureva will collectively make their NCAA Singles Championships debut.
  • No. 9 Anastasiia Lopata capped her second season at Georgia with a run to the 2024 NCAA Singles final, becoming the lowest-ranked player and ninth alternate ever to reach the championship match.
  • Lopata and Gureva qualified for the 64-player singles field by finishing the ITA Southeast Regional as singles co-champions earlier this fall.
  • Mert will also make her first appearance in the NCAA Singles Championships after taking home the ITA Conference Masters Singles Championship title last week.
  • Georgia will roll out two doubles pairs for the tournament. Freshmen Deniz Dilek and Emma Dong secured their spot with a finals run at the ITA South Sectionals, while Mert and Gureva qualified by winning the ITA Southeast Regional Doubles Championship.
  • Mert returns to the NCAA Doubles Championships for a third-consecutive season where she captured the 2024 national doubles title with former teammate Dasha Vidmanova in Stillwater, Oklahoma and advanced to the Round of 16 in last year’s event.
  • All matches will be streamed by Cracked Racquets and will appear on ESPN+.
