Seminoles Set for Road Trip to No. 7 Louisville and Notre Dame

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State volleyball team (13-10, 7-7) hits the road to take on No. 7 Louisville (20-4, 12-2) on Thursday night before heading to South Bend, Ind., to face Notre Dame (9-13, 6-8) on Sunday. Thursday’s match will begin at 8 p.m. on ESPNU while Sunday’s match is set for noon on ACCNX.
 
 
Seminoles Travel to Louisville and Notre Dame

  • The Seminoles hit the road again this week as they travel to No. 7 Louisville on Thursday night before playing at Notre Dame on Sunday.
  • The 2024 National Runner-Ups have been rolling as of late as Louisville is 20-4 and have won six straight. The Cardinals have ranked wins over Creighton, Stanford and North Carolina. 
  • Notre Dame is 9-13 and 6-8 in ACC play but is coming off a five-set win over NC State on Sunday.

                                                                                                                                                                            
Last Time Out

  • The Noles fell in a five-set heartbreaker to No. 14 Miami last Saturday in Tully Gym.
  • Iane Henke and Kyleene Filimaua led the way with 19 kills apiece while Nellie Stevenson recorded a double double with 20 assists and 12 digs.

                                                                                                                                                                            
Series history

  • The Noles lead the all-time series 14-13 against Louisville but will be looking for their first win against the Cardinals since 2019. A win over Louisville would be FSU’s first road win against a top ten team since August 29, 2014, at Nebraska.
  • The Noles have dominated the series against Notre Dame as they hold a 17-6 record against the Fighting Irish and have won four consecutive matches and six out of the last seven. Henke Putting Together One of the Best Seasons in Program History

  • Iane Henke was looking to take a big step in her second year with the Garnet and Gold and has done that and much more in her senior season with the Noles.
  • Henke is second on the team with 321 kills but is third in the ACC in kills per set (4.52) and points per set (5.20).
  • Henke’s 5.20 points per set is 13th in the entire country and is on pace to break the school record for points per set. Henke is also 20th in the country in kills per set. (4.52).
  • Henke missed five matches from Oct. 3-16 due to a lower body injury. The Noles were 1-4 with Henke out and are 12-5 when Henke plays.
  • Henke recorded 20 or more kills in four consecutive matches against Clemson, Georgia Tech, Cal and Virginia. Henke is the first player in program history to have 20 or more kills in four consecutive matches in the rally scoring era.
  • Henke has recorded 20 or more kills in six out of her last nine matches.
  • Henke had 21 kills in a three-set loss against Georgia Tech. Henke is one of two players in the ACC to record 20 or more kills in a three-set match this season.
  • Against Cal, Henke had a career-high 27 kills which is the eighth-most kills in a match by an ACC player. Henke was also the first Nole to record over 30 points in a match since Payton Caffrey on November 4, 2018, against Louisville.
  • In the four matches against North Florida, USF, South Carolina and Oklahoma, Henke tallied 15 or more kills in all four of those matches while hitting over .300 in all those matches. Henke is the first FSU player since Norisha Campbell in 2001 to accomplish that feat.
  • Henke has recorded 15 or more kills in 16 out of the 18 matches she’s played in this season.
  • Henke has recorded double digit kills in 17 consecutive matches.
  • Henke has recorded 22 service aces so far this season after recording just five aces all of last season.
  • Against UIC, Henke had seven service aces which was tied for the fourth-most in FSU history. Henke joined Audrey Koenig as the only two FSU players to record seven or more aces in the past 20 seasons.
  • Henke’s seven aces are tied for the third-most in a three-set match of any player in the country this season.

Filimaua a Reliable Force for the Noles

  • Filimaua is FSU’s most experienced and productive returner as a three-year starter in her junior season.
  • In her first full season as an outside hitter, Filimaua leads the team with 343 kills to go along with 201 digs and 30 service aces.
  • Filimaua has recorded double digit kills in her last 12 matches and in 19 out of the last 22 matches.
  • Filimaua ranks seventh in the ACC with 4.27 points per set and is currently on pace to finish in the top 10 in program history for points per set in a season.
  • Filimaua has recorded nine double doubles this season.
  • In 2024, Filimaua did a little bit of everything as she recorded 173 kills, 66 assists, 27 aces, 267 digs and 23 blocks. Filimaua filled in at libero during the middle of the season last year but returned to her main position as an outside hitter in 2025.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      
Kpea Impressing In her Freshman Season

  • Nenu Kpea has had a great start to her career in the Garnet and Gold and has taken her play to the next level.
  • Kpea has played in all 92 sets for FSU and is second on the team with 90 blocks and 0.98 blocks per set.
  • Kpea has recorded 159 kills and is hitting .290.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                       
Victoria David Makes the Most of Opportunity

  • In the absence of Iane Henke last weekend, freshman Victoria David stepped up in a big way with a great weekend against Wake Forest and NC State.
  • David played in just six sets prior to the Wake Forest and NC State matches as she played in 21 sets in the absence of Henke.
  • David has 34 total kills with 39 digs and seven blocks.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      
Ewing Giving the Noles Great Production

  • Delaney Ewing has been a great addition for the Noles in the middle.
  • Ewing has played in 89 out of the 92 sets and leads the team with 93 blocks to go along with 110 kills.
  • Ewing had her best match with the Garnet and Gold as she recorded a season-best 10 kills and eight blocks at NC State.
  • Against UIC, Ewing had seven kills on seven swings in the Noles’ sweep over the Flames.
  • Ewing comes from the University of San Francisco where she recorded 155 kills and 83 blocks in her freshman season.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      
Former Sun Belt Libero of the Year Mio Yamamoto Leading the Noles Defensively

  • The Noles made a big splash in the transfer portal in picking up 2023 Sun Belt Libero of the Year Mio Yamamoto from Louisiana.
  • Yamamoto leads the team with 305 digs and has also added 27 aces. Yamamoto recorded a career-high six service aces against Virginia on Oct. 24.
  • Yamamoto has recorded double digit digs in 18 out of the 23 matches this season and had a season-high 25 digs at NC State on Oct. 5.
  • Yamamoto was a two-time All-Sun Belt First Team selection in her two seasons in Lafayette.
  • Yamamoto ranked in the top 25 in the country in digs per set and recorded 13 matches with 20 or more digs in 2024.
  • Yamamoto has the most career digs of anyone on FSU’s roster.

                                                                                                                                                                                                         
Nicholson and Stevenson Leading FSU’s Offense

  • FSU brought in a couple of transfers from the portal to lead the offense for the 2025 season.
  • Lily Nicholson and Nellie Stevenson have both ran the offense effectively this season as each have recorded 452 assists this season
  • Nicholson comes from TCU where she played in 112 out of the 113 sets for the Horned Frogs last season.
  • Nicholson became just the eighth player in TCU history to record 1,000 assists with her 1,108 assists in her sophomore campaign.
  • She averaged 9.89 assists per set which ranked fifth in the Big 12 and 60th nationally.
  • She helped the Horned Frogs record a .252 hitting percentage over the course of the season which was tied for the second-best mark in school history.
  • Stevenson comes from Montana State where she started two seasons for the Bobcats.
  • Stevenson has recorded a double double in four out of her last five matches.
  • Stevenson recorded over 1,000 assists in 2023 and added 664 assists in 2024.
  • Stevenson tallied 68 service aces in her two seasons in Bozeman.
