FSU Earns 26th NCAA Berth, to Host Samford Friday
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State soccer team will host the NCAA Tournament First Round against Samford on Friday, November 14, at 5 p.m. ET. FSU is seeded No. 3 in its bracket.
Tickets are on sale now at Seminoles.com/Tickets. A ticket will be required for all fans, and the first 100 students will receive free admission with a valid FSU ID.
The Seminoles will make their 26th NCAA Tournament appearance, all consecutively since 2000. FSU will host the First Round for a 21st time and for the 16th time in the last 17 years, with the lone exception being the all-neutral-site 2020 tournament contested in the spring of 2021. Florida State is 24-0-1 all-time in the First Round, with 2004 the only year the team did not advanced.
Ranked No. 6 in the latest national polls, FSU enters the NCAA Tournament with a 10-2-4 record and a 6-2-2 mark in the ACC to finish in fourth place. The Seminoles’ two losses came to the top two teams in the country, while they played three of the four No. 1 seeds in this year’s tournament and 1-2-1 against those three teams.
The SoCon regular-season and postseason champions, Samford is 13-2-5 on the season and 7-0-2 in conference play. The Bulldogs have won seven in a row and are unbeaten in their last 17 games.
Florida State and Samford will square off for the sixth time overall and the fourth time in the NCAA Tournament. A year ago in Tallahassee, FSU posted an 8-0 victory in the First Round. The Seminoles are 5-0-0 all-time against the Bulldogs and 4-0-0 at home.
The winner of Friday evening’s First Round game will advance to the Second Round and face the winner between No. 6-seed Mississippi State and Lipscomb on November 20 at a location to be determined.
