No. 4/4/4 Alabama Slips Past LSU, 20-9

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 4/4/4 Alabama football team leaned on its defense in front of a sold-out crowd at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium, as the Crimson Tide (8-1, 6-0 SEC) took down LSU (5-4, 2-4 SEC) by a score of 20-9 on Saturday. The victory extended Alabama’s home winning streak to 17 games, the longest such streak in the country.

 

Ty Simpson was 21-of-35 through the air for 277 yards with one touchdown, adding four rushes for eight yards. Lotzeir Brooks hauled in four receptions for 67 yards, while Germie Bernard paced Alabama with 79 receiving yards across three catches.

 

The Tide defense didn’t allow a touchdown over 60 minutes, with Deontae Lawson leading all defenders with nine tackles, including half a tackle for loss. Yhonzae Pierre was again a force in the backfield, totaling two sacks to go with a forced fumble, and LT Overton also managed one sack among his two tackles. Bray Hubbard produced five tackles, one pass breakup and one forced fumble, with Nikhai Hill-Green collected five tackles as well as one tackle for loss and one forced fumble.

  • The Tide improved its nation-leading home winning streak to 17 consecutive games with the victory, a streak that began in 2023
  • Head coach Kalen DeBoer extended his career record in the month of November to 36-3 (.923), a standing that includes a 12-1 (.923) mark since 2022
  • In 19 career games after a bye week, DeBoer is now 17-2 (.894) in contests following an idle week with a perfect 8-0 mark since 2021
  • The Tide is now a perfect 12-0 at home since DeBoer’s arrival in Tuscaloosa 
  • Alabama has now won 87 consecutive games against unranked opponents at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium, a streak that has remained intact since 2007

  • Lotzeir Brooks managed 67 receiving yards in the win, surpassing his previous career-best of 58 yards set against Missouri on Oct. 11
  • Brooks also matched his career high with four receptions, while his 53-yard reception in the second quarter eclipsed his previous career long of 30 yards against Vanderbilt on Oct. 4
  • Josh Cuevas’ 58 receiving yards marked a new career high, overtaking his previous best of 46 yards set against Mercer in 2024
  • Yhonzae Pierre recorded two sacks in the win, and now has a team-leading six sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss on the year

  • 1:20 – UA | Following a forced fumble, the Tide converted the turnover into points, with Connor Talty splitting the uprights from 45 yards out. (3-0, Alabama)

Second Quarter

  • 12:27 – LSU | The Tigers leveled the score with a 37-yard field goal, closing a nine-play, 55-yard drive. (3-3)
  • 9:25 – UA | Daniel Hill rumbled into the end zone for a four-yard rushing score, putting an end to a seven-play, 75-yard drive (10-3, Alabama)
  • 0:22 – UA | With less than a minute remaining in the opening half, Ty Simpson found Lotzeir Brooks for a 53-yard strike, putting the Tide in the red zone. One play later, Simpson found Ryan Williams for a 14-yard score to extend the lead just before the halftime whistle (17-3, Alabama)

Third Quarter

  • 8:54 – LSU | The Tigers tacked on three more points with a 44-yard field goal, ending an 11-play, 48-yard drive. (17-6, Alabama)
