Jeremy Jin is NCAA Bound
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Junior Jeremy Jin has made his way into the finals of the ITA Conference Masters and has qualified for the singles NCAA tournament.
ITA Conference Masters Championship
Jin faced several ranked opponents to reach the finals of the tournament. In the round of 32, Jin defeated Kevin Titus Suresh of Saint Francis in straight sets to face No. 65 Azuma Visaya of Hawaii. Jin dispatched Visaya in two sets as well, leaving him to face No. 36 ranked of Emon van Loben Sels from UCLA. With his two-set win over van Loben Sels, Jin qualified for the NCAA Singles Tournament being hosted in Orlando, Fla.
After his qualifying win, Jin was set to No. 16 face Edward Winter of Pepperdine, but Winter withdrew from the competition. This left the door open for Jin to reach the finals where he will face No. 15 Martin Borisiouk of NC State. The competition’s finals start time is to be determined.
ITA Sectionals Update
Junior Henry Jefferson competed in the ITA Men’s South Sectional Championship for another NCAA Single’s bid for the Gators. Jefferson came up short in qualifying after falling to Bryan Hernandez Cortes from Mississippi State in three sets during the competition’s round of 16.
