Lucie Pawlak Bests Nation’s Top Player At ITA Women’s South Sectional Championship
She led a quartet of Gators who advanced out of the round of 32 in the singles draw, as Nikola Daubernova came back from a one-set deficit to beat LSU’s Addison Lanton 4-6, 6-2, 6-4; Gabia Paskauskas battled to a 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 victory over Georgia Tech’s Scarlett Nicholson; and Xinyi Nong bested Tennessee’s Vanesa Suarez, 6-2, 1-6, 6-4.
Daubernova will take on Vanderbilt’s Valeria Ray on Friday, November 7, while Paskauskas goes up against Florida State’s Amelia Bissett, Nong squares off against Georgia’s Sofia Rojas, and Pawlak faces Tennessee’s Saray Yli-Pilpari. All four matches get underway at 12 p.m. ET.
Florida has two teams participating in the 16-team Women’s Open Doubles draw—Gynina and Paskauskas, and Nong and Daubnerova. All eight Round of 16 doubles matches got underway at 4 p.m. this afternoon.
