Alabama Falls to Tennessee in Four Sets Friday in Tuscaloosa
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama volleyball fell to 16th-ranked Tennessee in four sets Friday night in Foster Auditorium by set scores of 18-25, 20-25, 25-23 and 15-25.
Alabama (10-9, 2-7 SEC) held a one-point lead over Tennessee (15-3, 6-2 SEC) at the media timeout in set one, but the Lady Vols scored six unanswered out of the break to pull ahead, 20-15, and eventually win the set, 25-18. Tennessee moved ahead 2-0 in the match with a 25-20 win in set two. The Crimson Tide jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in the third after a block from Sophie Agee and Lily Gervase, forcing an early Lady Vols timeout. Alabama would hold on to the lead for the rest of the set despite Tennessee drawing within a point five different times, including at the Tide’s first set point to make it 24-23. A block from Gervase and Kaleigh Palmer sealed 25-23 win and sent the match to a fourth set. The Lady Vols scored six unanswered points to start the fourth and rode the momentum to a 25-15 decision to take the match.
