Last Updated: October 20, 2025By

ATHENS, Ga.—–The highly anticipated debut of the 2026 edition of the Georgia Bulldog baseball team will begin Feb. 13 with a three-game series at Foley Field against NCAA regional finalist Wright State.

The Bulldogs posted a 43-17 record last year while the Raiders, winners of the Horizon League, knocked off number one overall seed Vanderbilt at the NCAA Nashville Regional and finished 40-21.

Georgia’s regular season schedule features 38 contests at Foley Field, and the first road game will be at Kennesaw State on March 3. The Bulldogs open their 30-game Southeastern Conference schedule March 13 with Tennessee coming to Foley Field. Also, in the SEC, the Bulldogs will play host to defending national champion LSU, Florida, Missouri and South Carolina. Georgia will be on the road against Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Ole Miss and Auburn.

Ike Cousins head baseball coach Wes Johnson enters his third season at the helm. Georgia’s top returning hitters include junior infielder/outfielder Tre Phelps (.318 BA, 10 HR, 44 RBI), senior shortstop Kolby Branch (.303-13-41) and junior catcher/outfielder Daniel Jackson (.240-14-36, 12 SB).

After having 10 players selected in the 2025 MLB Draft including their top five starting pitchers, Georgia bolstered its 2026 team with a portal class ranked among the nation’s best by multiple outlets. Georgia’s class features a combination of power pitchers and hitters. The top-rated newcomers include pitchers Joey Volchko (Stanford), Dylan Vigue (Michigan), Caden Aoki (USC) and Matt Scott (Stanford), two-way talents in Kenny Ishikawa (Seattle) and Bryce Calloway (New Orleans) plus utility player Jack Arcamone (Richmond), outfielders Cole Koniarsky (UNLV) and Jordy Oriach (New Mexico) along with infielders Michael O’Shaughnessy (Davidson) and Rylan Lujo (Dayton). Also, three members of Georgia’s freshmen class were 2025 MLB Draft selections: outfielder Cole Johnson (18th round, Baltimore), outfielder Ty Peeples (20th round, Toronto) and pitcher Dylan Wood (19th round, Kansas City).

Georgia returns to Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, on April 21st when it will face Georgia Tech in the 23rd annual Spring Classic. The Bulldogs hold a 15-7 edge in the game that benefits Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Georgia beat Tech last year 5-2 in front of a crowd of 15,000.

The SEC Tournament will be held May 19-24 in Hoover, Ala. It will feature all 16 in a single-elimination format. NCAA Regional action will be May 29-June 1 with Super Regionals slated for June 5-8, both played at various campus sites. The College World Series (CWS) will be conducted June 12-22 in Omaha, Neb.

Georgia will play one fall exhibition next month when West Georgia visits Foley Field on Nov. 2. First pitch will be at noon, and admission is free and open to the public.
