Freeling Named SEC Offensive Lineman Of The Week
ATHENS, Ga. — Junior OL Monroe Freeling has been named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week after the Bulldogs’ 20-10 win at Auburn, according to a league announcement.
Freeling, a native of Charleston, S.C., is the third Bulldog to earn an SEC weekly honor this season. QB Gunner Stockton and PK Peyton Woodring garnered accolades following Georgia’s road win over No. 15 Tennessee.
Freeling had four knockdown blocks and allowed no pressures or sacks of Stockton during Georgia’s second SEC victory of the season. Anchoring an offensive line that has featured six different starting combinations in six games, Freeling helped the offense accumulate 213 yards on offense in the second half during the team’s comeback. The Bulldog offense also finished 3-for-3 in the Red Zone.
The No. 9 Bulldogs (5-1, 2-1 SEC) play host to No. 5 Ole Miss (6-0, 3-0) on Saturday. ABC will televise the match up at 3:30 p.m. ESPN College GameDay will also be on site at Myers Quad in anticipation for the top 10 showdown.
