Walton County to begin processing Mobility Fee refunds to affected property owners

Walton County – 10/06/25 – As discussed at the most recent meeting of the Walton Board of County Commissioners, the County will soon start issuing Mobility Fee refunds to affected property owners due to the passage of Senate Bill 180, which nullified certain local ordinances in Walton County and many other counties throughout the state.

Mobility fees were a one-time charge on new developments to pay for offsite transportation improvements that were necessitated by the new development.

Walton County has initiated the refunding process for all 679 applicants who have paid this fee.

Please note the following important details for the refunds:

– Payments will be refunded to the billing contact person listed in each applicant’s file.

– If an applicant used a permitting service that paid with a credit card, they should contact that service directly for their payment.

– Refunds made via credit card will be credited back to the original card used for the payment.

– Refunds made by check will result in a printed check issued to the applicant.
