Doubles Action Highlights Opening Day of ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. The Alabama doubles team of Vit Kalina and Matic Kriznik secured a victory in the opening round of the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday.

The duo, competing in the Pre-Qualifying Draw, battled through three sets to claim the win over their Weber State opponents, Connor Kruger and Minh Tuan Dinh Viet.  The Wildcats took the first set off an 8-6 tiebreaker. Kalina and Kriznik would cruise to a 6-2 victory in the second set to force a third round before claiming the 10-point tiebreaker with a 10-6 decision.

  • Kriznik and Kalina will face Kentucky’s Matthew Rankin and Nicolas Arseneault in the Pre-Qualifying Round of 16 at 3:30 p.m. CT
  • Additionally, the duo will battle in the consolation round of singles after falling in individual matches during the day
  • Kalina and Oklahoma State’s Thomas Nicholas Gadecki are scheduled to compete at 10:15 a.m., while Kriznik and Tulsa’s Gus Tettamble compete at 11 a.m.
