Kpea Leads Noles To Four-Set Victory Over Georgia State

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State volleyball team (5-3) defeated Georgia State (7-2) in four sets (25-14, 21-25, 25-18, 25-16) on Monday evening to pick up its second win in as many days at Tully Gym. 
 
The Noles got off to a quick start in the match and jumped out to an early lead and never gave it up. The Noles cruised their way to a 25-14 after hitting .344 and holding the Panthers to a .000 hitting percentage in the opening set. 
 
The second set started with the Noles down early, 11-3, but they found some rhythm and went on a 5-0 run to cut Georgia State’s lead to 11-8. The Panthers were the first to make it to 15, but the Noles continued to battle, trading points with Georgia State. The set ended with a Seminoles 4-1 scoring run to shave the lead to four, but the Panthers took the second set 25-21 to tie the match
 
The Noles and Panthers battled early in the third set, trading points back and forth. After the Panthers took the lead at 10-9, the Noles rattled off seven consecutive points to take a 16-10 lead and finished off the set with a 25-18 victory to take the lead in the match.  
 
The fourth set began with a showcase of Nole dominance as they jumped to an early 12-4 lead, featuring three consecutive kills by Nenu Kpea. The Seminoles continued to roll and took the set 25-16 to clinch the match
 
Kpea led the Noles with a season-best 13 kills on 23 attempts to hit a season-best .565. Kpea also tied her season-best of eight blocks to lead the Noles. In her last two matches, Kpea recorded 24 kills with a .497 hitting percentage and 14 blocks.  Iane Henke continued her solid play with 12 kills while Kyleene Filimaua did a little bit of everything with eight kills, five digs, four aces and three blocks Mio Yamamoto led the team once again with 12 digs for the match.

The Noles will be back in action on Saturday at Georgia Southern at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
