TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State volleyball team (4-3) won in four sets (21-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-14) on Sunday versus Auburn (6-2) in the home opener in front of a capacity crowd at Tully Gym. The Noles snapped Auburn’s six-match winning streak, and it was FSU’s first win over Auburn since 2017.

In the first set, the Noles would battle back from a 12-point deficit to cut the lead to three and gain some momentum, but the Noles fell 25-21.

The Noles battled back from a tough first set and jumped out to a 15-9 lead in set two. The Tigers closed the gap to 20-17 off a pair of Nole errors and a kill, but the Noles finished on a 5-1 run to tie the match.

The third set started in a battle with the Noles and Tigers trading back and forth points. The Noles would go on to charge forward to a 15-9 lead after a pair of kills from Nenu Kepu. The Tigers would make a comeback to take an 18-17 lead. The teams would continue to battle, but with the set tied at 22, Kyleene Filimaua recorded a clutch kill, and Delaney Ewing and Payton Whalen teamed up for the block to give the Noles set point. Iane Henke put down an overpass to take the set.

The fourth set was all Noles as they dominated from start to finish, never surrendering the lead and cruising to a 25-14 win to secure the match.

Henke led the Noles with a Nole career high 19 kills. Henke has now had at least 15 kills in her last six matches, Filimaua added 16 kills, her fifth double digit kill match in a row. Nenu Kepu had her best match of her young career as she posted a season-high 11 kills and led the team in six blocks. Mio Yamamoto led the team in digs with 20.

Next up, the Noles take on Georgia State on Monday at Tully Gym. First serve is set for 5 p.m. on ACCNX.
