Previously from Florida Volleyball:
The Gators are currently riding a six-match win streak at home and are looking to rebound after falling to No. 25 North Carolina in three sets on Tuesday, Sept. 9 in Chapel Hill, N.C. Florida closed out its three-match road swing with a 2-1 record, earning a 3-1 victory over USF on Sept. 2 before sweeping Ohio State in Columbus on Sept. 7.
About Baylor:
The Bears have won five of their six matches this season, with its one loss against No. 10 SMU in five sets. Baylor returns to action following a week-long break after winning three consecutive home victories over Northwestern, Saint Mary’s (CA) and Rice at the Baylor Classic (Sept. 4-7).
From last year’s roster, BU brings back 68% of its blocks, while also returning 13% of assists, 32% of aces, and 33% of both digs and kills. The Bears welcome seven newcomers in 2025, highlighted by experienced transfers Gabrielle Essix (GR, MB, Florida), Anastasiia Nikolnikova (SR, MB, Syracuse) and MJ McCurdy (SO, OH, Texas State). Four true freshmen round out the group: Bailey Warren (OH), Kseniya Rakhmanchyk (OH), Morgan Madison (L/DS) and Lauren Wiese (MB).
Madison has already made an early impact, earning Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 2 after recording 50 digs over 13 sets (3.85 per set) during her debut weekend at the LSU Tournament.
Junior MB Victoria Davis and graduate transfer MB Gabrielle were each named Preseason All-Big 12. This was the first such nod for both players. Baylor was picked sixth in the preseason coaches’ poll. The Bears have finished the same as or ahead of the preseason rankings in eight of the last 10 seasons
