Walton County Commission Lowers Millage Rate

Earlier this week, the Walton County Board of County Commissioners set the tentative budget and millage rate for Fiscal Year 2025-2026. The millage rate

actually dropped as shown below. Chief Financial Officer Melissa Thomason noted, “For Fiscal Year 2026, the

Walton County Board of County Commissioners lowered the millage rate to 3.575 mils. This is the second reduction in three years and reflects a commitment to

reducing the property tax rate while meeting the County’s infrastructure needs and maintaining current levels of service for our citizens.

“With these goals in mind, preparation of the budget focused continuation of the 5-Year Capital Improvements Plan, maintenance of County facilities, and

investing in the employees who serve our citizens. Some of the capital projects planned for next fiscal year include the Driftwood & Ellis Roadway

and Drainage Improvements, the Nellie Drive Connector Road, and the Bruce Fire Station,” she added.
