Georgia Wraps Up Day One of Cougar Classic

HANAHAN, S.C. — The Georgia women’s golf team completed day one of the 21st annual Cougar Classic shooting a 13-over 581 after 36 holes.

  • This year marks the fifth straight season that the Bulldogs have kicked off their year in the Cougar Classic. In last year’s Classic, Georgia finished eighth as a team.
  • Four out of five golfers in Georgia’s lineup made their debut in the Red and Black on Monday.
  • Sydney Givens (Austin, Tex.) was one of four to make her first tournament appearance for the Bulldogs, leading the team with a three-over 71 performance in the first round. In round two, Givens sank back-to-back birdies on the ninth and tenth holes, finishing the round at even-par.
  • Maria Garcia opened her sophomore campaign, carding an 80 in the first round of play. Garcia made birdie six times in round two and notched a 68 to finish the day.
  • Maria Eidhagen Harrouch (Sandviken, Sweden) opened the first round with a four-over 71. Harrouch made birdie four times in round two, carding a 70.
  • The Bulldogs posted a score of 301 following the first 18 holes. In the second round, they carded a 280 to finish off day one with an overall score of 13-over 581.

 

Up Next

The Bulldogs will tee off in the third round of the Cougar Classic at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the Yeamans Hall Club. Georgia will be matched with Miami (FL) and Maryland in the final round of play. Live scoring will be available at https://gado.gs/df2.
