Volleyball Goes 2-0 on Opening Day with Wins over UNC Asheville and Jacksonville
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama volleyball opened the 2025 season Friday at Foster Auditorium with a pair of wins, defeating UNC Asheville in three sets before earning the 3-1 win in the nightcap against Jacksonville.
Alabama swept UNC Asheville by set scores of 25-20, 26-24 and 25-20 for its second season-opening sweep in the last three years. The Tide and the Dolphins split the first two frames by identical scores of 25-21 before Alabama took the next two, 25-20 and 25-19, to secure the match victory.
NOTES
- Victoria Barrett had double-digit kills in both matches, earning 15 vs. UNC Asheville and a team-leading 16 vs. Jacksonville
- Hannah Parant led the team with 51 assists and five service aces against the Dolphins
- Newcomer Lily Gervase hit a combined .500 between the two matches, posting 18 kills on 30 swings with just three errors
