Bulldogs Conclude Round One of the Carmel Cup
Pebble Beach, Calif. — The No. 23 Georgia men’s golf team opened the season with the first round of the Carmel Cup at Spyglass Hill Golf Course on Friday. The Bulldogs shot a collective 7-over par.

- The Carmel Cup is a six-count-five 54-hole stroke play tournament. Georgia is in eighth place after round one after shooting 7-over. No. 12 Vanderbilt leads the field at 8-under, followed by TCU (-2) in second, No. 1 Oklahoma State (+1) in third, and Mississippi State and No. 8 Oklahoma (+3) are tied for fourth. Arkansas is in sixth after shooting 4-over and No. 15 Texas Tech is in seventh at 5-over.
- Senior Carter Loflin and freshman JD Culbreth led the Bulldogs shotting even par. Both Bulldogs had three birdies in the first round and are tied for 16th overall.
- Sophomores Sungyeop Cho and Matt Moloney shot 1-over in the first round, sitting tied for 23rd. Cho eagled the 11th hole and had five birdies.
- Junior Grayson Wood shot 5-over in the first round which featured five birdies
- Despite carding an eagle on the seventh hole, sophomore James Earle shot 6-over.
- The Carmel Cup continues with the second round on Saturday, August 30. Georgia tees off at 1:48 p.m. PST.
