Welcome Back Student-Athletes, Fall Sports in Full Swing this Weekend
There’s always a special buzz around campus when we get things started and have our student-athletes report back to campus. This week feels no different with all four of our fall teams in action over the weekend. Looking forward to another successful season in Alabama Athletics!
Cross Country Season Opened This Morning in Tennessee
Both our men’s and women’s cross country teams opened their seasons this morning at the Tennessee Cross Country Invitational. The men are coming off a runner-up finish at the 2024 SEC Championship while our women won the 2024 SEC championship led by national champion Doris Lemngole. Be sure to check out full results later today on RollTide.com.
Volleyball Opens Season with Crimson Tide Invitational
Our volleyball team opens its season by hosting the Crimson Tide Invitational this weekend. We will begin tournament action with a pair of matches today (12:30 p.m. CT vs. UNC Asheville and 7 p.m. CT vs. Jacksonville) before closing the weekend tournament on Saturday vs. UAB (3 p.m. CT). Fans can pick up both season and single-match tickets through the Alabama Ticket Office.
Soccer Off to a Hot Start
Our soccer team has jumped out to a 4-0 start to the year, which includes a pair of true road victories and a home win over Michigan. The team has outscored its competition 13-4 across the four-match stretch, as MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List honoree Gianna Paul leads the way with seven points on three goals and an assist.
Our squad will look to continue its hot start when we host Mercer Friday night at 7 p.m. CT, before a big road trip next week at North Carolina (Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. CT) and at Duke (Sept. 7 at 12:30 p.m. CT).
Football Opens Saturday at Florida State, First Home Game Next Weekend
The long wait ends this weekend as head coach Kalen DeBoer’s second season officially begins Saturday at Florida State. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPN. Following the road opener, we will kick off the 2025 home slate next Saturday, Sept. 6, at 6:45 p.m. CT against ULM. Those looking to pick up tickets can do so through SeatGeek.
New in 2025
Before making your way to town next week, be sure to check out our New in 2025 page, which includes both additions to the football gameday experience as well as important reminders, including ticket and entry information.
Future Adjustments Made in Football Scheduling
With the announcement of a nine-game Southeastern Conference football schedule beginning in 2026, we have made adjustments to some of our preexisting nonconference matchups. This allows for more flexibility moving forward and gives us the opportunity to further evaluate how strength of schedule is evaluated for the College Football Playoff.
Basketball Schedules Announced
Our men’s and women’s basketball teams, each making NCAA Tournament appearances a year ago, have announced their respective 2025-26 schedules and will begin the season on Nov. 3 with a doubleheader inside Coleman Coliseum.
Head coach Kristy Curry and our women’s team are coming off the squad’s third NCAA Tournament appearance in four years, while head coach Nate Oats and the men have reached three consecutive tournaments including back-to-back Elite Eight appearances.
Crimson Kickoff Meeting
It was terrific to see so many of our student-athletes attend our annual Crimson Kickoff Meeting, which took place on Sunday, Aug. 24. It was great to see many student-athletes come out. A special thanks to our new President Peter Mohler stop by and speak to those in attendance.
College Colors Day is Today!
We hope you are all wearing your best crimson and white as we celebrate College Colors Day. The day was created to foster school spirit among fans, alumni, students, faculty and staff, as our fans across the country are asked to unite by representing the crimson and white colors.

University Spotlight
One of the neatest beginning-of-the-year traditions here at The University of Alabama is the annual script A formation on the football field. This year’s photo opp, featuring the class of 2029, broke the record for most people to fill out the A!
#RollTideFriday
This week’s #RollTideFriday photos has us seeing folks showing their ‘Bama pride all over the world as we have photo submissions from around the globe. Our first featured photo has A-Club member Beverly White and Alabama Alumni Brian Rothwell, Gary Jones and Phillip Ward standing in front of the Parliament Building in Budapest, Hungary. We also have the McGuire family representing Alabama in front of the Skytree Tower in Tokyo. How cool is that!

I’ve always said that the Alabama “A” is a worldwide brand, and it’s great to see our school colors and logos recognized anywhere our fans travel.
Remember to use the hashtag #RollTideFriday in your social posts and tweet your photos to me at @Greg_Byrne. We will select two photos to feature in each Byrne Notice. Let’s keep these great photos coming!
