QUICK KICKS
Big Blue in Town
Following one of the biggest regular season wins in program history, Georgia welcomes Michigan to Athens for a Sunday matinee, looking for three consecutive shutouts for the first time since 2023. The Bulldogs are looking to carry the momentum from Thursday’s 2-0 victory over North Carolina, while the Wolverines seek to bounce back from a 3-1 loss at Alabama. Sunday’s match is only the second all-time meeting between the programs, with Georgia prevailing, 1-0, in a neutral match at UAB on Sept. 15, 2002. Georgia holds a 7-4-2 record against Big Ten opponents, having just dropped a 1-0 contest to UCLA on Aug. 14. Under Keidane McAlpine, the Bulldogs are 2-1-1 against B1G members, earning wins over Iowa and Illinois in the past two seasons.

Coaching Ties
Coach McAlpine will see a familiar face on the sideline in Michigan head coach Jennifer Klein, who served as one of his assistant coaches for six seasons at Washington State and USC (2012-17). Klein was a member of the 2016 Trojans staff that won the program’s second national championship. This is the second meeting between McAlpine and Klein, with USC winning, 1-0, in overtime in 2021 in Ann Arbor.

Senior Day
Prior to Sunday’s match, seven senior players will be recognized for their contributions to the program. Defender Cate Hardin and midfielder Millie Filson have played in all four seasons of the McAlpine era, with midfielder Summer Denigan tallying three seasons and defender Maddie Baker sitting at two. Newcomers Laila Booker, Sage Glover, and Juliauna Hayward will also be honored, along with managers Kate Crunkleton, Gracie Entlich, and Tori McKool. Hardin, Filson, and Denigan have combined to post a 23-12-12 record, capture the 2023 SEC Tournament title, and reach the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2023.

A Rainy Night in Georgia
Despite over two hours in weather delays, Georgia produced a historic 2-0 victory over No. 12 North Carolina Thursday, earning its first-ever victory over the nation’s winningest program and reigning national champion. In the second half, Summer Denigan put the Dawgs on the board as she knocked in a blocked shot in the 51st minute. Twenty minutes later, Lily Kate Elphick scored her second goal of the season with a rocking laser off her left foot. Freshman goalkeeper Hannah Folliard was outstanding in net, with the Bulldog defense only allowing two shots on net. The win over the Tar Heels was the highest-ranked opponent since No. 10 Arkansas in the 2023 SEC Tournament final and only the 11th win over an ACC school in program history.
