Walton County Commission recognizes CPM graduates
Walton County – 08/14/25 – At this week’s regular meeting of the Walton County Board of County Commissioners, numerous county staff members from various departments were recognized for having earned certification from The Certified Public Manager® (CPM) program. CPM is a nationally recognized program for training and developing public managers and supervisors.
It is currently offered in 42 states and by the federal government. The primary goals are to professionalize public management and improve organizational efficiency.
Director of Administrative Services Mary King praised the county staff members who put in the time, long hours and extra work needed to earn the certification. “These amazing staff members exemplify the kind of dedicated, skilled employees that every agency wants. The additional training they received will not only serve them in their current county roles, but it also increases the likelihood of

advancement through the ranks when it comes time for promotions into new positions,” said King.
“Having a highly trained, exceptional staff benefits not only county government but also the public and we are very proud of their accomplishment,” she added.
Florida offers the largest CPM program in the country, with over 8,000 graduates from more than 100 agencies. Florida’s CPM program is administered by the Florida Center for Public Management at Florida State University.
