GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A pair of Florida Gators earned end-of-season team awards from their respective Cape Cod League ballclubs, as infielder Brendan Lawson was named Offensive Player of the Year of the Brewster Whitecaps while Christian Rodriguez collected the Al Graeber Outstanding Pitcher Award for the Harwich Mariners.

In earning major awards from their teams, both Lawson and Rodriguez helped successfully navigate the Whitecaps and Mariners into the 2025 CCBL Playoffs, which run from Aug. 5-13.

Although Lawson joined Brewster late in the summer and played in just 23 games, that was more than enough runway for the rising sophomore to make an impact. Across 81 at bats, Lawson slashed .333/.398/.519 for a robust .917 OPS. That was accompanied by a team-high four homers, three doubles, 13 RBI, 12 runs and one stolen base. The Canadian product provided that offensive output while logging innings the hot corner and first base.

During the CCBL regular season, Rodriguez served as Harwich closer and was lights out from start to finish. His 26 strikeouts led the team and ranked third in the league among pitchers with zero starts. He ended the regular season with a 0.93 ERA in 19 1/3 innings, rising to the occasion whenever the team needed him most. He also led the team with three saves, and added 3 1/3 shutout innings of relief backed by seven strikeouts to earn the victory in the decisive game three vs. Brewster in the opening round of the CCBL playoffs on Aug. 7.
