Gators Close Out USATF Championships with Eight Team USA Selections

EUGENE, Ore. – The final day of the USATF Championships wrapped up at Hayward Field, as two more Gators secured their spots on the World Championship roster. 

Robert Gregory delivered a breakout performance in the men’s 200 meters after opening the semifinals with a season-best 20.03 seconds. Gregory improved to a personal best of 19.80 seconds in the final, earning third place and punching his ticket to Tokyo.

Two-time Olympian Will Claye climbed his way up the leaderboard in the men’s triple jump final. The former Gator notched a season best 17.09m jump on his fourth attempt, wrapping up the final in third place and earning his way to the World Championships. Fellow triple jumper Omar Craddock placed eighth with a 15.79m leap. 

Reigning World Champion Grant Holloway locked in a 13.18 second finish in the 110mH semifinal, placing fifth overall and second in his heat. Already qualified for the World Championships, Holloway did not start in the final later that evening. Current Gator Demaris Waters placed 26th overall in the semi-finals with a 14.23-second run. 

In total, eight Gators will head to Tokyo to represent the United States at the World Championships from Sept. 13-21.
