Anna Hall Leads the Way with Heptathlon Victory on Eventful Day for Gators
Gators rack up season bests and finals spots in Eugene.
Anna Hall proved her dominance in the heptathlon with a total of 6899 points. Taking first place in five of the seven events, Hall hit a personal best of 47.32m in the javelin throw, surpassing her previous 46.16m mark and solidifying her place at the top of the leaderboard. Her long jump of 6.32m added 949 points to her overall score, before finding another 1045 points from taking first place in the 800m with a time of 2:04.60. Her 373 point lead earned her a national championship and a ticket to Tokyo for the World Championships from Sept. 13-21.
On the track, Talitha DIggs recorded a season best 51.03-seconds in the 400m, placing third in her heat. DIggs found herself in the top ten of the event, but finished just outside the bubble to qualify for finals.
Jenoah McKiver and Jacory Patterson each made their way into the men’s 400m final. McKiver advanced with a season best 44.92-second run, being the second runner to cross the line in the second heat. Patterson took the first place finish in the third heat and a fourth place finish overall, recording a 44.63-second run and an automatic qualification for the finals.
After a stellar performance on day one, Pjai Austin took the track for the 100m semi-finals in the third heat of the day. Austin’s 10.14-second finish put him in 12th place overall, wrapping up his time at the USATF Championships.
Marquis Dendy and Malcolm Clemons both fell short of the top eight qualifiers moving on to the finals of the men’s long jump. Dendy capped the day with a 15th overall finish, posting a 7.54m jump, as Malcolm Clemons found himself in 11th place, with a 7.80m jump.
