Program-Best and Nation-Leading 11 Seminoles Drafted
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Seven Florida State baseball players were selected on the second and final day of the 2025 MLB Draft on Monday, as a record total of 11 FSU players were picked in the 20-round draft over two days.
The Seminoles’ 11 total picks in this year’s draft are the most in school history and tied for the most among all NCAA teams this year. It bests the previous FSU high of 10 set in 1995, though two of those selections came after the 20th round.
On Monday, junior second baseman Drew Faurot was drafted in the fourth round (108th overall) by the Miami Marlins, sophomore right-handed pitcher Peyton Prescott was selected in the fifth round (163rd overall) by the New York Mets and redshirt junior left-handed pitcher Joey Volini was drafted in the sixth round (168th overall) by the Miami Marlins.
Junior right-handed pitcher Evan Chrest was selected in the 15th round (462nd overall) by the Cleveland Guardians and three players were drafted in the 16th round, junior right fielder Gage Harrelson (469th overall) by the Los Angeles Angels, junior catcher Jaxson West (472nd overall) by the Toronto Blue Jays and junior right-handed pitcher Maison Martinez (474th overall) by the Cincinnati Reds.
On Sunday’s opening day and first three rounds, junior left-handed starter Jamie Arnold was the 11th overall pick by the Athletics, junior shortstop Alex Lodise was the 60th overall selection by the Atlanta Braves, junior right-hander Cam Leiter was drafted 65th overall by the Los Angeles Dodgers and junior center fielder Max Williams was picked 78th overall by the Miami Marlins.
FSU’s four selections on the first day were tied for second-most among all NCAA programs and the most in the ACC. The Seminoles’ three picks in the first two rounds and four picks in the first three rounds were both the most in team history.
With this year’s 11 draft picks, Florida State has 309 overall selections in program history since the team’s first pick in 1966, outfielder Jim Lyttle, who went 10th overall to the New York Yankees.
Faurot and Volini, along with Williams on Sunday, give FSU nine draft picks by the Miami Marlins and the first since 2022. Faurot is the first infielder since Brett Roberts in the 16th round in 2022, and Volini is the first pitcher since Hunter Perdue in the 10th round in 2021. Of the nine Florida State picks by the Marlins, Volini is the fifth pitcher and Faurot and Williams are both the second infielder and outfielder, respectively. Williams, Faurot and Volini are the three highest-drafted players in FSU history by the Miami ballclub.
Prescott is the 12th Seminole to be drafted by the New York Mets and first since Robby Coles went in the 28th round in 2013. This year’s selection of Prescott in the fifth round is FSU’s third-best overall by the Mets, behind a pair of first-rounders, Chris Roberts (18th overall in 1992) and Paul Wilson (first overall in 1994). Prescott is the seventh pitcher selected by the organization, with Coles the latest before 2025.
Chrest is the 11th FSU player to be picked by the Cleveland Guardians and the second in as many years, after fellow pitcher Conner Whittaker was in 2024 in the 15th round. Cleveland has taken five Florida State pitchers, with Chrest being the fourth in a row.
Harrelson is the 16th player from FSU drafted by the Angels and the first since Cobi Johnson in the 29th round in 2017. Harrelson is the seventh outfielder picked by LA, with Josh Delph (37th round in 2015) being the most recent.
West is the eighth Seminole to be selected by the Toronto Blue Jays and the first that isn’t a pitcher. The most recent Blue Jay draft pick was CJ Van Eyk in the second round in 2020.
Martinez is the 11th player from Florida State to be picked by the Cincinnati Reds. He’s the first since Bryce Hubbart in the third round in 2022, also a pitcher. Six of the 11 selections by the Reds have been pitchers.
A Tallahassee, Florida, native, Faurot was named a First Team All-ACC selection and was recognized on the Tallahassee Regional All-Regional Team in 2025 as a junior. He also earned ACC Player of the Week accolades after a school-record-tying 12 consecutive at-bats with a hit. Faurot was named to the ACC Championship All-Tournament Team in 2024. As a freshman at UCF in 2023, he collected Freshman All-America and AAC All-Freshman Team honors.
Faurot hit .307 in 2025 and started all 58 games at second base. He recorded 67 hits in 218 at-bats with 16 home runs, eight doubles, 51 RBI and 51 runs scored. Faurot walked 28 times, registered 123 total bases and had a .564 slugging percentage and a .388 on-base percentage. He stole eight bases in 13 attempts.
In his two-year FSU career from 2024-25, Faurot hit .297 in 117 games with 114 starts. He has 129 hits with 22 home runs, 27 doubles and one triple in 435 at-bats. With 80 RBI, a .515 slugging percentage and a .368 on-base percentage, Faurot has 50 walks and 224 total bases.
From Sebastian, Florida, Prescott’s 2025 campaign was his first as a Seminole. He posted a 5-0 record with three saves and a 5.15 ERA in 24 appearances with one start. In 36.2 innings, Prescott allowed 21 earned runs on 42 hits with 46 strikeouts and 17 walks.
In 2024 at Jacksonville, Prescott was named to the ASUN All-Freshman Team.
A native of Tampa, Florida, Volini had a breakout inaugural campaign with the Seminoles in 2025. He was named a Second Team All-ACC honoree and a Dick Howser Trophy Semifinalist, along with recognition on the watch lists for the Golden Spikes Award and the National Pitcher of the Year. Volini was named the National Pitcher of the Month in March and ACC Pitcher of the Week on March 31 and was bestowed with Midseason All-America distinction. He was at USF from 2022-24.
Volini made 16 appearances on the mound with 15 starts in 2025. He was 16th in the country with two complete games and 30th with 105 strikeouts. In the ACC, Volini was fourth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.20) and sixth in wins (8) and strikeouts per nine innings (10.82). With an 8-5 record and a 3.50 ERA, Volini allowed 34 earned runs on 76 hits in 87.1 innings. He walked 25 and held opponents to a .238 batting average.
Hailing from Tampa, Florida, Chrest made four starts with a 2-1 record and a 2.70 ERA in his first season at FSU in 2025. He allowed five earned runs on 15 hits in 16.2 innings with 11 strikeouts and five walks. Chrest held opponents to a .238 batting average.
Chrest came to Tallahassee after two years at Jacksonville from 2023-24, where he was the ASUN Freshman of the Year, a Second Team All-American and First Team Freshman All-American in 2023 and a Third Team All-American in 2024.
The Warner Robins, Georgia, native, Harrelson earned Third Team All-ACC honors and Academic All-District accolades in his debut campaign at FSU in 2025. While starting all 58 games in right field, he hit .339 with 80 hits, five home runs, 10 doubles and two triples. Harrelson drove in 43 runs, scored 63 and had 109 total bases with a .462 slugging percentage and a .444 on-base percentage. He walked 35 times and stole 15 bases in 18 attempts.
Harrelson joined the Seminoles after two seasons at Texas Tech from 2023-24. He was a Freshman All-American, Big 12 All-Freshman honoree and Big 12 Honorable Mention selection in 2023.
West is from Tallahassee, Florida, and was named to the Tallahassee Regional All-Regional Team in 2024. He started his career at Alabama in 2023.
In two years as a Seminole, West has played in 97 games with 86 starts. He has hit .255 with 75 hits, five home runs, 13 doubles and one triple. West has driven in 46 runs and scored 62 with 105 total bases. With a .357 slugging percentage and a .384 on-base percentage, he has 57 walks and five stolen bases in six attempts.
As a junior in 2025, West played in 46 games with 45 starts and hit .236. He notched 35 hits with two homers, five doubles and 26 runs scored. West had 17 RBI and 46 total bases with a .311 slugging percentage and a .370 on-base percentage. He drew 30 walks and was a perfect three-for-three in stolen base attempts.
A Lake Worth, Florida, native, Martinez joined the Seminoles in 2025 after two seasons at VCU from 2023-24. He appeared in 14 games this season with two saves, a 1-2 record and a 5.55 ERA. In 24.1 innings, Martinez allowed 15 earned runs on 21 hits with 33 strikeouts and 13 walks. He held opponents to a .244 batting average.
Florida State’s draft picks helped lead the Seminoles to their first College World Series berth in five years in 2024 and a Super Regional appearance and FSU’s first ACC runner-up finish in 11 years in 2025.
MLB teams have until Monday, July 28, at 5 p.m. ET, to agree to deals with players they draft out of four-year colleges and high schools.
