Seminoles’ Woad Finishes Third At Evian Championship; Secures LPGA Tour Card
The LEAP was first announced in November 2024 and is a program that provides the top amateur female golfers a new path to LPGA Tour Membership. Through LEAP, female amateurs who accumulate a minimum of 20 points within the set criteria framework in the current year and the previous three calendar years earn exempt Priority List status on the LPGA Tour, provided they also meet all LPGA Tour Membership requirements.
“It is truly an honor to be the first player to achieve LPGA Membership through LEAP,” said Woad. “It has been a dream of mine to compete amongst the best players in the world, and I am grateful to now have this opportunity. I want to thank my family, coaches and teammates at FSU for supporting me along my amateur journey – I am very excited for what the future holds.”
Woad’s journey to earn her 20 points began during the Summer of 2023 as she earned 2.5 points in four matches for the International Team at the 2023 Arnold Palmer Cup at the Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, Pa.
From there, she earned two points as the champion of the 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur and two more for finishing in the top 25 at the 2024 Chevron Championship (tied for 23rd) on the LPGA Tour.
Woad then earned seven total points as the No. 1 ranked amateur women’s player in the world. She totaled three points as the No. 1 ranked amateur in 2024 and four points for winning the 2024 McCormack Medal as the leading player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking for the year. Woad has been the world’s No. 1 ranked amateur player since July 31, 2024 – a total of 48 consecutive weeks. She has held the world’s No. 1 ranking for 53 of the last 54 weeks dating to June 12, 2024.
Woad earned her final eight points for her top-25 finish at the 2024 AIG Women’s Open, as a member of the 2024 Curtis Cup and 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup teams, for making the cut at the 2025 US Women’s Open, and for her third pace finish at the 2025 Amundi Evian Championship.
Woad earned her final two points at the Amundi Evian Championship. She carded a bogey-free 7-under 64 in the final round of the Evian, taking sole possession of first place on her back nine. Woad held the clubhouse lead at minus 13 with the final wave of players yet to complete their rounds. Her 13-under 271 is the lowest 72-hole score by an amateur in Evian history, while her final-round 64 is the lowest round ever by an amateur at Evian.
In earning her 20th point after July 1 of the calendar year, she has presented herself with two options. She can accept LPGA Membership for the remainder of the current LPGA season and the following LPGA season. Or she can defer LPGA Membership until the 2025 season and gain eligibility for the 2025 season only.
“Lottie has earned every bit of her success with her hard work and dedication to be the best she can be,” said Seminole head coach Amy Bond. “For her to be the first person ever to graduate from the LEAP program and get her LPGA card is something truly special. I am beaming with pride as she represents herself, her family, and Florida State so proudly.”
Woad is the fifth Florida State player (and sixth overall) under Bond to earn their LPGA Tour Cards. The list includes Kelly Shon (while Bond was the head coach at Princeton) Woad, Matilda Castren, Morgane Metraux, Frida Kinhult and Amanda Doherty (while Bond has become the winningest women’s golf coach in Florida State history).
“Lottie has earned a lot of ‘firsts’ for our program,” said Bond. “I look forward to the many more to come.”
The 21-year-old from Farnham, England, who added First Team Academic All-American honors to her resume last week, is schedule to play in the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open (July 24-27) and the AIG Women’s Open (July 30-August 3) in the coming weeks.
