Erickson, Shumaker & Lorenz To Compete In MLB Home Run Derby X
17 current and former collegiate softball stars were selected to compete in the baseball competition.
The MLB Home Run Derby X is a 3-on-3 baseball format with a focus on power hitting, athletic catching and defense.
The co-ed competition combines “the most exciting elements” of a nine-inning baseball game into a 30-minute format.
Each team will consist of two MLB players and a female player from the softball world.
The MLB Home Run Derby X will make stops in six U.S. cities from July through September.
The competition will conclude in a two-day playoff format featuring the winning squads from each event vying for a $200,000 prize in Salt Lake City.
Erickson will be the first Gator to compete on July 13 in Atlanta, Lorenz will participate in the Oklahoma City event on August 23 and Shumaker will compete in the Iowa event on August 30 in Des Moines.
The MLB Home Run Derby X will feature “current and former stars of collegiate softball and women’s baseball who have a combined 27 College World Series appearances, 16 National Championships and 17 First-Team All American selections, including Jocelyn Alo, Reese Atwood, Jocelyn Erickson, Hannah Flippen, Kinzie Hansen, Alex Hugo, Tiare Jennings, Ashton Lansdell, Amanda Lorenz, Elizabeth Mason, Ali Newland, Jessica Oakland, Ella Parker, Kasidi Pickering, Sydney Romero, Taylor Shumaker and Katie Stewart.”
