Shelton’s 2025 Wimbledon Performance – Florida Gators
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Ben Shelton’s 2025 Wimbledon run came to an end in his quarterfinal match where he faced off against the No. 1 Ranked player in the world, Jannik Sinner. This is not the pairs first time meeting with Shelton being 1-5 against the Italian tennis player, prior to their matchup, with his lone win coming from their first face off in Shanghai in 2023.
Even though he did not get the results he wanted in his quarterfinals appearance, Shelton still managed to make history two years in a row at Wimbledon.
In his 2024 Wimbledon run, Shelton made it to the Fourth Round exactly 30 years after his father, former head coach Bryan Shelton, accomplished this feat. This year, Shelton is the second youngest American man to reach the quarterfinals since Andy Roddick in 2004 at 21 years old.
Joining Taylor Fritz as the second American men to reach the quarterfinals, the pair extends the United States’ streak of having at least two Americans in five consecutive slams.
