Rioux Set to Compete in FIBA U19 World Cup

The Montreal native will represent Canada in FIBA action for the fifth straight summer.

Florida men’s basketball center Olivier Rioux has earned a place on Canada’s FIBA U19 World Cup team, opening competition in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Saturday. It marks the Montreal native’s fifth straight summer representing his home country in international action.
 
Rioux, who took a developmental redshirt season for Florida in 2024-25, was a member of the Gators’ national championship team and is set to return for his redshirt freshman campaign in 2025-26. He has competed for Canada in FIBA events every summer since 2021, including the 2024 U18 Americas (bronze medal) 2023 U19 World Cup (seventh place), 2022 U17 World Cup (ninth place) and 2021 U16 Americas (bronze medal).
 
The eight-day, 16-team event will feature three games in group play with all 16 teams then seeded for knockout play.
