Arnold and Lodise Named Consensus All-Americans
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State baseball juniors Jamie Arnold and Alex Lodise are recognized as consensus All-Americans, as the duo have been bestowed with All-America accolades by D1Baseball on Thursday.
Arnold and Lodise are consensus All-Americans after the duo have been selected to each of the six major All-America teams. It’s the second consecutive season FSU has had two consensus All-Americans, as Arnold also was recognized in 2024 alongside James Tibbs III. Arnold is a multiple-time All-American in back-to-back seasons, the first Seminole to achieve that feat since Parker Messick from 2021-22.
On Thursday’s D1Baseball list, Lodise was honored on the All-America First Team and Arnold was named to the Second Team.
They both earned First Team distinction by Perfect Game on June 10 and by the NCBWA on June 11. The ABCA bestowed Arnold with First Team distinction and Lodise with Second Team accolades on June 13, while Baseball America named Lodise to its First Team and Arnold to its Second Team on June 20. The College Baseball Hall of Fame also tabbed the FSU duo on its All-America team on June 25. The Seminoles’ All-America accolades also include a pair of Freshman Team honors for Myles Bailey, who was recognized by Baseball America and Perfect Game.
To headline the 2025 postseason awards, Lodise was named the recipient of the 2025 Dick Howser Trophy as the national player of the year on June 13.
A left-handed starter from Tampa, Florida, Arnold was recognized on all six All-America teams as a sophomore in 2024, including five first teams. A shortstop from St. Augustine, Florida, Lodise’s four All-America accolades this year come after he was selected to one Freshman All-America team in 2023 at North Florida.
The pair helped the Seminoles to a second consecutive NCAA Super Regional appearance in 2025 with a 42-16 record. As they all earned All-ACC honors, FSU went 17-10 in the conference and finished in second place with a .630 winning percentage. The ACC runner-up finish and No. 2 seed at the conference tournament were the team’s best since 2014. Arnold and Lodise were both selected as team captains in 2025.
With an 8-2 record, Arnold finished 10th in the country in strikeouts (119) and 17th in strikeouts per nine innings (12.65). He was third in the ACC in WHIP (1.06) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.41), fourth in ERA (2.98) and hits allowed per nine innings (6.70) and sixth in wins (8). In 15 starts, Arnold allowed 28 earned runs on 63 hits in 84.2 innings with 27 walks and a .208 opponent batting average.
Along with his consensus All-America accolades, Arnold was named to the Southeast All-Region First Team by the ABCA. The Tallahassee Regional Most Outstanding Player and a First Team All-ACC honoree, Arnold was a Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy Semifinalist. He was named to the National Pitcher of the Year Award Watch List and recognized as the ACC Pitcher of the Week on April 14.
One of the nation’s most prolific hitters and best defenders, Lodise had a breakout 2025 campaign. He ranked No. 9 in the country in hits (95), No 11 in total bases (170) No. 12 in hits per game (1.64) and No. 23 in batting average (.394). Lodise was third in the ACC in RBI (68), fourth in slugging percentage (.705) and fifth in triples (3). He hit 17 home runs, had 18 doubles, scored 62 runs with 27 walks and was a perfect 6-of-6 in stolen base attempts. With a .977 fielding percentage, Lodise was part of 34 double plays and committed just five errors in 216 total fielding chances.
While starting all 58 of FSU’s games at shortstop, Lodise had at least one hit in 48 of those 58 games played, with 31 multi-hit games. He notched three or more hits in 13 games, which is more than the number of times he was held hitless (10) and almost as many games as he had just one hit (17). Additionally, Lodise is believed to be the first player in major college or professional baseball history to complete the cycle with a walk-off grand slam. The historic performance to beat rival Florida in his hometown of Jacksonville on March 25 was one of seven game-winning hits for Lodise in 2025.
In addition to the Dick Howser Trophy and consensus All-America honors, Lodise was named the ACC Player of the Year and ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He is the NCBWA District 3 Player of the Year and recognized on the Southeast All-Region First Team by the ABCA. A Golden Spikes Award and Brooks Wallace Award finalist, Lodise was named the midseason National Player of the Year and the country’s No. 1-ranked shortstop late in the season.
