Alabama Athletics Mourns the Passing of Eliud Kipsang

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of one of the greatest to wear the crimson and white on the track, Eliud Kipsang. Eliud, the 2021 SEC Cross Country Runner of the Year and conference champion in the 1,500m, was just 28 years old when he tragically passed away last week.

Kumari Lewis Selected to Lead Alabama Rowing

We are pleased to welcome Kumari Lewis to our outstanding cohort of coaches as she has been selected to lead our rowing program. Kumari comes to the Capstone from Penn, where she spent the last eight seasons on staff. She is widely regarded as one of the top up-and-coming coaches having had a proven track record of success on the water and in recruiting. 

Two More National Championships for Alabama Track and Field

Congratulations to Samuel Ogazi and Doris Lemngole for winning gold at this year’s NCAA Track and Field Championships. Samuel was first to stand atop the podium for the Crimson Tide, earning the win in the men’s 400-meter race, while Doris repeated as the 3,000m steeplechase champion in record fashion, clocking the NCAA’s first sub-9:00 time in women’s history. 

Men’s and Women’s Basketball to Take on Clemson in ACC/SEC Challenge

Our men’s and women’s basketball teams will match up with Clemson as part of the 2025 ACC/SEC Challenge with both games being played at home in Coleman Coliseum. The men’s game will take place on Wednesday, December 3 while the women’s game is set for the next night on Thursday, December 4. 

SEC Opponents Revealed for Basketball

In other basketball scheduling news, SEC home and away opponents were recently announced. On the men’s side, we will host Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Texas A&M. The women will welcome Arkansas, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. 

Fiscal Year End Giving

Our fiscal year is coming to a close on Monday, June 30. If you have not yet made a philanthropic contribution to Alabama Athletics this year, please consider donating to the Crimson Tide Scholarship Fund (CTSF). The CTSF is the annual scholarship fund for Alabama Athletics, providing scholarship support for the Crimson Tide’s 600+ student-athletes. University Spotlight

On Monday, Dr. Peter J. Mohler was appointed 30th president of The University of Alabama. I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about Dr. Mohler and look forward to our continued success as an institution under his leadership.
