Public Works Rain or Shine
Walton County – June 6, 2025 – Walton County Public Works announces significant progress on several ongoing infrastructure projects throughout the county. These updates aim to increase transparency and keep residents informed about the improvements.
• CR 883 Striping Project at Elementary School: Work continues on the CR 883 striping project in front of Freeport Elementary School. The project includes replacing the existing crosswalk and installing a new one at the north end of the school zone. Adjustments to the turn lanes will also be made to improve traffic flow and safety.
• Karli Court Dirt-to-Pave Project: Installation of drainage pipes and lime rock base is complete. Crews are now compacting and preparing the road for paving.
• South Walton Bark Park Improvements: South Walton Bark Park is currently undergoing renovations, which include bringing in dirt to elevate the property, redirect drainage, and installing new sidewalks and fencing. Dirt has been brought to elevate the property and redirect drainage. Sod installation is underway.
• Forest Shore Road Drainage Improvements: Work continues to improve the drainage system along Forest Shore Road to mitigate flooding and enhance water management.
• S. Norwood Road Sidewalk: Sod installation is currently on hold pending delivery. In the meantime, crews are addressing a drainage issue on McCall Dairy Road. Work on the sidewalk will resume upon delivery of materials.
