Three Gators Earn All-Region Honors
NORMAN, Okla. – The trio of Florida men’s golfers of Ian Gilligan, Luke Poulter and Jack Turner earned PING All-Region honors on Saturday, the GCAA announced in round two of the NCAA National Championship.
Gilligan earns the accolade for the third in his career and second at UF while Turner collects his second and Poulter his first.
The awards mark the 11th consecutive and every season Florida has had golfers earn the recognition under head coach J.C. Deacon. A total of 25 Gators have been selected over the last 11 years and eighth occurrence with two or more selections.
Through 36-holes at the National Championship, Florida is in 4th at 5-under as they finished the final two holes 5-under for a 3-under team round this morning, its second straight under par round after a 2-under yesterday.
Gilligan adds to his postseason honors after earning All-SEC First Team behind a Haskins Award Postseason Finalist selection. He is currently ranked No. 3 in the PGA Tour U Rankings, which will be finalized after Monday’s final round of stroke play. He finished 7th in stroke play at the SEC Championship with an 8-under 202 behind a final round of 5-under 65. He went undefeated in match play (2-0-1) to finish 3-0-1 all-time in match play at the conference tournament. The senior won his sixth collegiate win at the Gators Invitational, where he finished 8-under 202 and won in two-hole playoff.
Turner also added his second accolade as he was named All-SEC Second Team. He was recently the coach’s pick for the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup and Team USA. At the SEC Championship, he won the match-clinching point in the semifinals against the No. 1 player in college golf and back-to-back SEC Individual Champion, Jackson Koivun of Auburn, the reigning SEC and NCAA Champions. In stroke play, Turner shot all three rounds in the 60s for a T16 4-under outing. At the Bremerton Regional, he finished T12 to mark T22 finishes or better in all five of his career postseason tournaments.
Poulter has become a staple in the Gators lineup this spring and shined in his first career postseason action. He began with a 3-0 mark in the SEC Championship Match Play with victories of 4&2 (Quarterfinals), 3&2 (Semifinals) and 4&3 (Finals). Poulter also had a final round of 2-under in stroke play at the conference tournament as across 47 holes played in match play, he won 18, tied 23 and only lost six.
Going to the NCAA Regional in Bremerton, he finished T4 at 10-under with all three rounds under par and bogey-free 3-under 67. He won his first collegiate tournament at the Schenkel Invitational at 8-under, marking the sixth Gator golfer to win the event. Currently at the NCAA National Championships, Poulter is 4-under with back-to-back rounds of 2-under 70.
