TALLAHASSEE –  The No. 11 Florida State men’s golf team will begin stroke play on Friday of the NCAA Championship at the Omni La Costa in Carlsbad, California.
 
The Seminoles are seeded eighth out of 30 teams after dominating from start to finish at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional behind a score of 29-under par at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club.  FSU will be paired with No. 7 Florida and No. 9 Virginia for the first and second rounds.  The first round will start at 3:45 ET from the 10th hole on Friday.  On Saturday, the Noles will begin at 10:25 off the first tee.
 
The top 15 teams after three rounds of stroke play will advance to the final round on Monday. The top eight teams will compete in match play, starting on Tuesday.

Last Time Out
FSU will make its 12th appearance in last 15 NCAA Championships after winning its second regional championship in program history, finishing ahead of No. 5 Ole Miss by nine strokes.  New Mexico was third, at 14-under. 
 
Luke Clanton became the first two-time NCAA Regional individual champion in FSU history, finishing with a score of 15-under, 201. Clanton set the Seminole Legacy course record for three rounds, breaking the mark that was set by Davis Thompson of Georgia in 2021 at 202.  It was his fourth time this season topping the leaderboard, leading the Noles in all of the team wins.
 
In the third round, Clanton shot 3-under, 69 to pick up the eighth win of his career. 
 
In his final tournament at Seminole Legacy, Gray Albright finished in sixth place at 7-under, 209 after shooting 70 in the third round. Albright finished just ahead of Tyler Weaver in seventh place, who added 69 in the final round, climbing two spots at 6-under, 210.
 
Clanton Named Finalist for Nicklaus Award
After winning the Ben Hogan Award on Monday night, Clanton was chosen as one of five finalists for the for the 2025 NCAA Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award presented by Workday.
 
The winner will be announced by Nicklaus on Sunday, June 1 during his annual the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday press conference with awards presented to each of the recipients by Nicklaus and Workday.
 
Clanton is ranked third via Scoreboard powered by Clippd with a 69.1 scoring average. Clanton was also a 2024 NCAA Division I Jack Nicklaus Award presented by Workday finalist and has been the top-ranked amateur via the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR®) since August 14, 2024.
