TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State soccer team announced its opening two matches of the 2025 season. The Seminoles will face Alabama in an exhibition before kicking off the regular season against in-state rival Florida.

The reigning ACC champions will play their lone tune-up match at home against Alabama on Friday, August 8 at 6 p.m. FSU hosts the Crimson Tide for only the second time in the series history following a dominating 4-0 home victory back in 2021.

The Seminoles and Gators will meet at the Seminole Soccer Complex for the 31st edition of the Sunshine Showdown on the opening day of the 2025 season. The match will be played on Thursday, August 14, at 7 p.m. This marks the first time the two sides will meet for the season-opening match since 2000.

Florida State has won the last seven meetings with Florida, dating back to 2017, the largest streak of wins in the series history. FSU holds a 17-13 advantage in the series and has outscored the Gators 9-0 in the previous three meetings.

FSU returns 16 players from last season’s conference championship side and brings in the No. 2 ranked recruiting class, including six top 100 freshmen, two ACC transfers, and an Arsenal academy product.

The full 2025 schedule will be released at a later date.
