CARLSBAD, Calif. – Lottie Woad, Kaylah Williams, and Mirabel Ting all earned wins to give the No. 4 seeded Seminoles a 3.5-1.5 over No. 5 seeded Southern California which earned Florida State a trip to the semifinals of match play against Stanford in the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships at the Onmi La Costa Resort. For the Seminoles it’s their first ever trip to the national semifinals.

Senior captain Kaylah Williams put the first point of the day on the board for the Seminoles as she gained a 5&4 win over USC’s Cindy Kou. After the players tied the first three holes, Williams won five of the next eight holes to take a five hole lead. The pair tied the next three holes to give Florida State’s fourth-year player a five hole lead with four holes to play and the first victory of the day.

Woad earned a 4&3 victory over USC’s Jasmine Koo to give Florida State a 2-0 advantage. The Seminole All-American win five of the nine holes on the back nine (the Seminoles started on hole No. 10) and the second hole  after the turn to increase her advantage. Woad was up by four with three holes left to play to garner the point for the Seminoles.

Ting, who won the ANNIKA Award as the nation’s top collegiate player while the match was ongoing, closed out the Seminoles’ victory with a 3&1 win over Bailey Shoemaker.

“To win against a really good Southern Cal team, that’s a very impressive team, so we’re thankful to get through,” said Seminole head coach Amy Bond “We’re going to take a little bit of rest, eat some lunch, regroup, and talk about it. You know we get the No. 1 1 seed now, Stanford, arguably the best team, so we’re just going to do our best and see what happens.”

The Seminoles’ match against Stanford begins at 4:15 p.m. ET and will be joined in progress by the Golf Channel at 6:00 p.m.
