Guiser, Klonowski Named to SEC All-Freshman Team
The two first-year player honors are tied for the most selections in the conference and in the last two years, Florida has had three selections, ranking the most among league schools.
Klonowski has played in all 10 tournaments this season and in the nine stroke play events, she has finished a team-best eight top-25s and team-low stroke average of 72.1. The redshirt-freshman also has team-high 11 under-par rounds. In the SEC Championship, she won both match-clinching matches in the quarterfinals vs. LSU and semifinals against Arkansas. Klonowski also turned in a final round of 3-under 67 in stroke play at the conference tournament.
From Heartland, Wisc., Guiser highlighted her first season with medalist honors at the Gators Invitational with a 54-hole score of 4-under 206, only the second UF freshman to win the home tournament in its 53 years. She has played in seven events this season and has two top-10s and four top-25s.
Rattanasin has been very active this year in volunteering in the Gainesville community for over 100 hours. She has worked numerous events including Gator Tracks Wrap party and delivery, Gators Lunch Buddies, Climb for Cancer and after school volunteer programs in local elementary schools.
The No. 21 Gators begin play the NCAA Charlottesville Regional May 5th at Birdwood Golf Course as the No. 4 seed. After 54 holes, the top-5 teams and low individual (not on an advancing team) advance to the NCAA Championships at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. from May 16-21.
The Gators have qualified for 31 of the 32 all-time women’s golf regionals as they were introduced in 1993. Florida has made every regional since 2000 and each year under head coach Emily Glaser. The program has won three regional titles, the first in 2008 and back-to-back in 2016 and 2017.
Florida finished runner-up at the SEC Championship, led by a lineup of all underclassmen (three sophomores & two freshmen). The Gators reached the match play finals for the second time in program history since the format was added in 2018 after defeating the No. 2 seed LSU Tigers 5-0 and the No. 6 seed and No. 2 ranked Arkansas Razorbacks 3-2. UF was edged in the finals 3.5-1.5 to the No. 1 seed and veteran (two seniors & graduate student) South Carolina Gamecocks.
