FSU Continues Road Swing with Match at Miami
The Seminoles defeated the Hurricanes 4-3 last season in a thrilling matchup at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
Last year, Florida State claimed the doubles point before Miami responded with two singles wins to take a 2-1 lead. The Seminoles evened the match at 2-2, but the Hurricanes regained the advantage to go up 3-2 with Courts 4 and 6 still in play. Laura Putz delivered a straight-set victory to tie the match at 3-3, setting up the deciding point on Court 4. Millie Bissett rallied after dropping the opening set to earn a three-set win and clinch the match for Florida State.
Florida State enters Sunday’s match looking to rebound after a loss at Wake Forest last weekend. Miami comes in on a five-match winning streak, highlighted by a victory over No. 9 NC State.
Mary Boyce Deatherage and Eva Shaw have both been strong in dual play this season, each holding a 6-3 singles record.
In doubles action, Shaw and Tina Li lead the Seminoles with a 5-1 record, including a 3-1 mark in ACC play.
