Three T&F Bulldogs Earn Annual SEC Indoor Awards
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A trio of Bulldogs have been voted Southeastern Conference indoor annual awards, according to a league announcement Thursday.
With the NCAA Indoor Championships just a day away, three Georgia track and field team members who have qualified for Nationals were part of 14 annual awards announced by the SEC. Two of the Bulldogs honored won individual conference crowns and a third brought a bronze medal back to Athens.
Who Won What?: Junior Kimani Jack was named the SEC Men’s Newcomer Field Athlete of the Year, redshirt freshman Adaejah Hodge garnered SEC Women’s Freshman Runner of the Year honors and freshman Jonathan Simms was voted the SEC Men’s Freshman Runner of the Year.
Jack, a native of London, England, competing in his first year at the collegiate level, won the SEC high jump title after matching school record with a national leading mark of 2.28 meters/7 feet, 5 ¾ inches (No. 11 on 2026 world list). He swept the Clemson Invite and Tiger Paw Invite with matching clearances of 2.25m/7-4.50. Simms also grabbed top honors at the MLK Jr. Invite thanks to going over the high jump bar at 2.20m/7-2.50.
Last Since…: Jack is the Georgia’s first winner in this category after the league incorporated the Newcomer accolades prior to last year. Teammate Will Floyd was the 2025 SEC Men’s Newcomer Runner of the Year.
Hodge, a native of St. Croix, set a school, facility and British Virgin Islands record with a world leading 22.32 (No. 5 all-time collegiate performer with No. 9 all-time collegiate performance) to win the SEC 200m title. She added five more points with a fourth-place finish in the 60m at SECs thanks to her 7.18. Hodge ran the country’s fourth-best 60m time this year (7.13) to take second at the Tiger Paw Invite and collected 200m wins at both the Tiger Paw Invite (22.51) and the Razorback Invite (22.53).
Last Since…: Hodge joins teammate Kaila Jackson (2023) as the two most recent Lady Bulldog recipients of this award. Hodge is the third overall winner of the honor since two-time Olympic 400m gold medalist Shaunae Miller (now Miller-Uibo) garnered the accolade in 2013.
Simms, a native of Allen, Texas, ran a national leading 44.62 (No. 2 on 2026 world list) to win Clemson Invite 400m. He earned bronze at SECs with a 45.23 in the 400m. He ran on the second-place 4x400m relay team (3:04.60) at SECs, boasting a team-best 45.68 split from his leadoff position. Simms collected top collegiate honors (second overall) in the 400m with a 45.04 for fourth at the Razorback Invite.
Last Since…: Simms is the Bulldogs’ first honoree for the award since the great Matthew Boling won in 2020 and only the third overall.
