Seminoles Qualify Three Swimmers, Five Relays and One Diver to NCAAs
TALLAHASSEE – The No. 13 Florida State swimming and diving team secured multiple NCAA Championship berths as the NCAA announced the men’s swimming qualifiers on Wednesday, while sophomore Carlos Vargas earned a qualification in the platform event on the final day of the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships in Athens, Georgia.
Florida State will send three individual swimmers to the 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships along with all five relay teams. Senior Max Wilson and sophomores Michel Arkhangelsky and Logan Robinson each earned individual selections for the Seminoles.
FSU also qualified in each relay event: the 200 freestyle relay, 200 medley relay, 400 freestyle relay, 400 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay.
The men’s national championships are scheduled for March 25-28 at McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
“It was a great day for us,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “To get all five relays to the Championships as well as our amazing individual qualifiers to the fastest meet in the world is just incredible. Today we also got to celebrate Carlos qualifying on platform, he is truly a clutch performer. I’m looking forward to a historic NCAA finals, as I know these guys are going to crush it.”
Wilson earned three individual selections and will contribute to four relays, while Arkhangelsky also punched his ticket in three individual events and will be a part of four of the five relays. Robinson will compete in two individual events and swim on all five qualifying relays.
INDIVIDUAL SWIMMING QUALIFIERS
Michel Arkhangelsky | 100 Freestyle | 100 Backstroke | 100 Butterfly
Arkhangelsky earned NCAA selections in the 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly. The sophomore holds multiple Florida State records, including the 50 freestyle (18.82), 100 freestyle (41.68), 200 backstroke (1:38.50) and 100 butterfly (44.36). At ACCs, he helped the Seminoles win the 200 medley relay and finished as the runner-up in both the 400 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.
Logan Robinson | 200 Freestyle | 200 Butterfly
Robinson qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200 freestyle and 200 butterfly after a standout sophomore season. At the 2026 ACC Championships in February, he won the 200 butterfly with a school-record time of 1:38.78 and finished as the runner-up in the 200 freestyle with another program record of 1:31.18. Robinson is the only swimmer set to compete on all five of Florida State’s relay teams.
Max Wilson | 50 Freestyle | 100 Freestyle | 100 Backstroke
Wilson will compete at NCAAs in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. The senior holds the Florida State record in the 100 backstroke (44.43) and ranks second in program history in the 100 freestyle (41.81). At ACCs, he contributed to the gold-medal 200 medley relay team and earned second-place finishes in both the 400 medley relay and freestyle relay.

DIVING
On the final day of the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships in Athens, Georgia, Vargas secured a berth to the NCAA Championships in the platform event.
He placed second overall in the prelims with a score of 373.50 before advancing to the finals. He ultimately finished fourth with a combined score of 758.70 to earn his spot at the national championships.
This will be Vargas’ second time on the national stage, as he competed on platform at NCAAs as a freshman in 2025. He finished 33rd with a score of 280.95.
Sophomore Hayden Schroeder also advanced to the final after placing 13th in the prelims with a score of 345.55.
The Seminole men will head to Atlanta to compete in the national championships from March 25-28.
