BIRMINGHAM – Florida softball player Taylor Shumaker was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week following a standout weekend back in her hometown at the Judi Garman Classic.

Shumaker earned her first-ever SEC Player of the Week after hitting a team-best .714 (15-for-21) with 19 RBIs, four home runs, four doubles, four walks and 14 runs while in Fullerton, California.

The sophomore outfielder also slugged 1.476 and held a .731 on-base percentage over five games.

Against East Texas A&M on Feb. 26, Shumaker set a new Florida single-game record, scoring five runs and driving in eight, a new career-best and just one RBI shy of matching the program single-game record.

Shumaker hit a pair of home runs against No. 8/9 UCLA on Feb. 27, her second multi-home run game of the season and seventh of her career.

She recorded two four-hit performances, versus both the Bruins and Oregon State, matching her career-best.

Shumaker currently ranks No. 1 in the NCAA in hits (41), runs (41) and doubles (11), second in total bases (82) and fourth in RBIs (37).
