The women rose victorious with 77 total team points, claiming four podium marks on the final day and six overall to overtake the competition after ending the second day at fifth. Florida’s men tallied 58 points to finish fourth overall.

Saturday’s performance marks Florida’s second team to win a SEC crown this season, joining the women’s cross country program, who claimed its eighth title at the 2025 SEC Championship in Knoxville, Tenn. in the fall. The victory marks the third time the Gators won both women’s cross country and indoor track & field titles in the same season (1996-97, 2009-10 and 2025-26)

The newest conference championship is Florida’s 268th overall SEC title, the most of any league program and extends the Orange and Blue’s streak to 48 consecutive seasons with at least one SEC title, the longest active streak among conference programs.

HIGHLIGHTS

Throws

The women’s shot put gave the Gators the first points of the day, with Alida van Daalen placing third overall on her second attempt. The senior’s 18.13m (59’5.75) throw put three points on the board for the Orange and Blue and became van Daalen’s best mark of the season.

In the men’s realm, Jarno van Daalen claimed a second place finish in the shot put, grabbing hold of a personal best throw of 20.14m (66’1″) on his fourth attempt. The freshman now sits with a No. 3 program best mark and an SEC runner-up title after his first conference championship meet. 

Jumps

Asia Phillips jumped her way to the podium with a third place leap of 13.28m (43’7″)  in the women’s triple jump on her fifth attempt, contributing six points to the Orange and Blue. 

A 16.35m (53’7.75″) triple jump mark for Temoso Masikane gave the freshman a new personal best and a spot at No. 8 on the program’s all time list. 

Distance

The distance team dominated the day on both men’s and women’s fronts, with four podium finishes from the combined group. 

Hilda Olemomoi claimed two runner-up titles in the span of two days, with her most recent silver medal coming from the women’s 3000m run, clocking in at 8:46.33 to add eight points to Florida’s total. On her heels was junior transfer Judy Chepkoech, who claimed fourth overall in her first 3000m race in the NCAA with a 8:59.30 finish, etching her name onto the program’s all time best list at No. 4 in the event. 

In a shorter distance, Claire Stegall found herself atop a runner-up podium mark, claiming a 4:30.81 mile time to finish .09 seconds behind the first place finisher. The freshman still claims the conference lead with the fastest indoor mile time ever recorded by a SEC athlete. 

Freshman standouts Kelvin Cheruiyot and Oussama Allaoui made their marks on the track, as they each found a spot in the top three of their respective events. Cheruiyot walked away with his second bronze medal of the meet after a 7:48.32 time in the men’s 3000m race, as Allaoui’s 4:02.80 mile solidified a runner-up finish and a silver medal.

Sprints

With two championship events in under an hour, freshman runner Sydney Sutton posted a personal best and a top ten mark in her first event of the day. The Potomac, Maryland native lit up the track with a 51.46 fourth place finish in the women’s 400m, claiming the No. 4 time in program history. Sutton found herself back in the oval for the 200m championship race, where she claimed fifth after a 22.93 strut. 

Wanya McCoy’s return to the 200m track landed him a runner-up finish with a time of 20.31, marking his first podium finish in the event since his championship title during the 2024 season.

Select Gators will make their way to Fayetteville, Arkansas where they will compete in the final meet of the indoor season at the NCAA Indoor Championships from March 13-14.
