ATLANTA, GA – Robert McCray V scored 20 points, and Thomas Bassong added 14 in Florida State’s 80-71 win against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at the McCamish Pavilion. McCray V has scored 20 or more points in a career-high nine games this season. Bassong’s 14 points tie his career-high, which he set against NC State on January 10, 2026. In addition to his scoring, Bassong grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds. His 12 rebounds surpassed his previous record of eight, which he set on December 22, 2025, against Jacksonville. Bassong’s 14 points and 12 rebounds combine for his first career-double-double.

Florida State improved to 15-14 on the season and 8-8 in the ACC. The Yellow Jackets fell to 11-18 overall and 2-14 in the ACC.

The Seminoles controlled the glass, outrebounding Georgia Tech 44-34. Of those 44 rebounds, 18 of them were offensive boards that Florida State turned into 18 second-chance points.

Florida State capitalized on the transition. The Seminoles outscored Georgia Tech 17-2 in the fastbreak points category.

The Seminoles lead Georgia Tech wire-to-wire. The Yellow Jackets would cut Florida State’s lead to just three, 53-50, with 14:29 to play. Over the next eight minutes, the Seminoles would outscore Georgia Tech 15-5 to take a 68-55 lead and close out their eighth ACC victory.

Senior Chauncey Wiggins opened the game by going 2-2 from the free-throw line.

Wiggins would finish the game with 12 points, two blocks, a rebound, and a steal. Wiggins has scored in double-figures 20 times this season.

Florida State led 20-14 with 12:04 to play in the first half. An 8-0 A run sparked by an Alex Steen put-back extended the Seminoles’ lead to 12, 28-16.

The Seminoles had a 40-26 lead with 2:58 remaining before Georgia Tech ended the half on a 12-1 run and cut the lead to five.

Florida State led Georgia Tech 41-36 at the half.

The Seminoles held a slim 53-50 lead with 14:29 to play. Florida State would hold Georgia Tech without a made field goal for the next nine minutes to take a 68-58 lead with 5:52 to play.

A fast break alley-oop slam from Bassong would seal the win for the Seminoles.
