FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Florida Women’s Tennis Team evened its SEC record at 1-1 Thursday evening with a 4-0 sweep of Arkansas (8-3, 0-2). It was also the second road win of the season for the Gators (6-2) who have now posted back-to-back blankings having beaten Bethune-Cookman 7-0 last Sunday

Doubles

Valery Gynina and Brooke Black improved their dual match record to 5-0 on the season, and gave the Gators an early edge in the doubles point with a 6-2 win over Jimena Gomez Alonso and Brooke Schafer in the number two slot. Arkansas evened things out with 6-3 victory at number one doubles as No. 23 Caroline Gomez Alonso and Anet Koskel bested No. 25 Nikola Daubnerova and Xinyi Nong, 6-3. India Houghton and Lucie Pawlak secured the doubles point for Florida with a 6-4 win at number three doubles over Arina Babenko and Alexandra Panagiotodou, 6-4. It was also the first dual match win of the season for the tandem.

Singles

Black put the Gators up 2-0 when she finished her 6-0, 6-3 victory over Panagiotidou at number four singles, improving to 5-2 in dual matches on the year. No. 80 Pawlak put Florida one win away from sealing the match besting Jimena Gomez Alonso, 6-3, 6-1 in the number five slot. Houghton clinched the victory for the Gators upending Brooke Schaefer at number two, 6-4, 6-2. No. 54 Valery Gynina and No. 23 Gabia Paskauskas split their first two sets at number one and three singles respectively, while No. 97 was close to closing out her match at number six singles when Houghton completed her win.
