Alabama’s Kristina Paskauskas Named SEC Player of the Week
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama’s Kristina Paskauskas was named the Southeastern Conference Women’s Tennis Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. The junior captured her first conference weekly honor since arriving to The Capstone last summer.
No. 45-ranked Paskauskas remained undefeated in dual match play after picking up a pair of singles and doubles victories versus Colorado and at Minnesota, as the Crimson Tide improved to 8-0 on the year.
- Currently leads Alabama at the No. 1 spot with five straight-set wins in singles play
- Paskauskas and her double partner Karla Bartel are tied for the most UA victories in doubles with six
- The junior defeated Colorado’s Aya El Sayed, 6-2, 6-2, on Feb. 13 to help the Tide to a 4-0 sweep over the Buffalo
- The next day, Paskauskas downed Minnesota’s Aiva Schmitz, also in two sets (7-5, 6-1), en route to the Crimson Tide’s back-to-back sweeps on the road
- In doubles play, Paskauskas and Bartel clinched the doubles point for UA in its match versus Colorado, while earning the team’s first win of the day against Minnesota
