Beach Volleyball Set to Open the Season at Home
TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State beach volleyball team is set to host its first tournament of the season from February 20 through the 21, featuring the program’s Paint-It-Pink event on opening day.
The tournament begins with three matchups on Friday, with Florida State hosting UAB, Cal State Bakersfield, and Georgia State. The Seminoles improved to 12-0 all-time against UAB after a 5-0 win in 2024. FSU is 6-0 all-time versus the Blazers in Tallahassee.
Florida State is 1-0 all-time against Cal State Bakersfield after a 5-0 shutout last season. CCSA Co-Pair of the Year Audrey Koenig and Alexis Durish went 21-11 and 21-12 on court one, while Carra Sassack and Bailey Higgins went 21-10 and 21-7 on court two, making quick work of their final match of the day.
The Seminoles will finish opening day by facing Georgia State. FSU is 19-1 all-time against the Panthers, with 17 consecutive wins. Florida State went 2-0 last season against GSU, winning nine of 10 courts over two days at the Seminole Beach Bash.
Florida State will return Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. to battle North Alabama, followed by Southeastern Louisiana at 4:30 p.m. FSU is 2-0 all-time against North Alabama, beating the Lions each of the past two seasons. The Seminoles and SELA have never competed in beach volleyball.
