PANAMA CITY, Fla. – The No. 11 Alabama men’s golf team is in 10th overall after the opening round of play at the Watersound Invitational on Monday. 

Brycen Jones and William Jennings lead the Crimson Tide with rounds of 1-under 69 and even par 70, respectively. Meanwhile, Michael Crocker, who is competing as an individual, is in 13th overall after a team-leading 2-under par 68.

Round One Highlights

  • Brycen Jones is in a tie for 22nd overall to lead Alabama after the opening round at 1-under par 69 
  • It marks his eight round of par or better this year out of 13 total rounds played this year
  • After recording a 2-over par 37 on his front nine, Wiliam Jennings, who came into the event ranked No. 9 in the nation’s individual rankings, closed his back nine at 2-under par 33 to earn an even par 70
  • Jonathan Griz and Jack Mitchell both carded a 3-over 73 to finish the day in a tie for 57th overall
  • Luke Powell rounded out the Alabama starting five at 5-over par 75
  • Alabama has three individuals competing this week, with Michael Crocker’s career-best round of 2-under 68 pacing the Crimson Tide
  • Crocker is in 13th overall entering Tuesday’s second round
  • Tristin Wisener carded a 2-under 72 and is in 47th overall while Connor Brown rounds out the UA golfers in a tie for 57thoverall at 3-over 73
