Four Noles Post Double Figures as FSU Defeats Boston College, 85-76

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women’s basketball team (9-16, 4-9 ACC) defeated Boston College (4-23, 0-14 ACC) on Thursday night, 85-76.
 
The Seminoles had four players contribute double figures, led by Sole Williams, who scored 23 points after shooting 10-of-13 from the floor. It was her sixth 20-point game of the season.
 
Jasmine Shavers managed her second double-double of the season, scoring 18 points and leading the team with 10 rebounds.  Shavers converted three three-pointers for the second time this week, stretching her season total to 47.
 
Amaya Bonner also contributed 18 points, finishing 5-of-8 from the floor. She delivered six rebounds, tying her career high, and dished five assists. Pania Davis was the fourth Seminole in double digits, scoring 11 points.
 
FSU registered nine blocks on the night, the most in an ACC game this season, led by Tatum Greene, who tied her career high with four. Greene added seven points and seven rebounds.
 
The Seminoles jumped in front early, thanks to three three-pointers from Bonner, Shavers, and Sydney Bowles.  Greene came up big defensively, swatting two blocks in the frame. FSU ended the first with the 23-15 lead.
 
Florida State caught fire in the second, starting the quarter on a 13-0 run, forcing Boston College to call timeout with 7:05 left, up 36-17.  Bonner stretched it to 16-0 after a three-point play, but Boston College answered with a 10-0 stretch. Greene knocked down a three, but the Eagles found momentum cutting into the FSU lead to end the half, 48-38.
 
Bonner and Williams each contributed 11 points in the first half, led by Bonner, who was 4-of-4, including 2-of-2 from behind the arc.  She also dished five assists.
 
After back-and-forth play to start the third, the Seminoles picked up the pace, converting six of the last eight shots of the quarter, taking a 70-56 advantage into the fourth.
 
Boston College continued to push, but the Seminoles kept the lead and closed out the game leading from start to finish.
 
The Seminoles will hit the road for a top 10 match up with No. 9/9 Louisville on Sunday at 6 p.m. at the KFC Yum! Center.
