Women’s Tennis Falls to UCSB

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women’s tennis team (2-3) fell 4-2 to UCSB (3-2) in Santa Barbara, California, Friday afternoon at the Arnhold Tennis Center.

Florida State began the match by clinching the doubles point on Courts 1 and 2. Eva Shaw and Kristyna Lavickova played together for the first time in their careers, earning a 6-4 victory over Ekua Youri and Raphaelle Leroux on Court 2. Laura Putz and Tina Li earned their third win of the season, and first on Court 1, defeating My-Anh Holmes and Isabella Wong 6-4. 

UCSB responded by earning three singles victories on Courts 1, 2 and 4. 

Mary Boyce Deatherage earned her fourth singles victory of the spring, defeating Shachf Liebermann 7-6(6), 6-4 to cut the deficit in half 3-2.

The Guachos earned a Court 6 victory to clinch the match 4-2. 

The Seminoles began their match with No. 22 Texas Tech by contesting the doubles point Friday. Texas Tech took a 1-0 lead in the match, with singles play set to begin at noon ET Saturday, followed by FSU taking on Arizona.
