Alex Condon Earns Spot on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award Midseason Top 10 List
The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced Alex Condon among the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Midseason Top 10 honorees on Friday. The award recognizes the nation’s top center.
Condon has averaged 13.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game this season with five double-doubles and four 20-point games. Condon put on an all-around performance in Sunday’s win vs. No. 23 Alabama with 25 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals without a turnover, just the fourth player this century to hit all those marks in the game and the only one to do so vs. a top-25 opponent.
A native of Perth, Australia, Condon also picked up SEC Player of the Week honors earlier this week, his first of the season and fourth of his career. Only Vernon Maxwell (five times) has been named SEC Player of the Week more times in Florida history (Colin Castleton, also four).
Fans are encouraged to participate in fan voting starting on Friday, Feb. 6, on hoophallawards.com. The fan vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.
The Gators visit Texas A&M on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. EST, televised on SEC Network.
